That seems like bad metric to define the state of WSL since X-forwarding is very easy to do.
You just install https://sourceforge.net/projects/vcxsrv/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/vcxsrv/, run it, then
`export DISPLAY="$(grep nameserver /etc/resolv.conf | sed 's/nameserver //'):0"`
in WSL and you're good to go.
