Honestly I fail to see innovation. There was ton of propertiary connectors 20 years ago. Then everybody moved to USB 2.0/2.1 with two physical connector option

Honestly I fail to see innovation. There was ton of propertiary connectors 20 years ago. Then everybody moved to USB 2.0/2.1 with two physical connector options - micro USB and lightning. Then everybody, apart from Apple enabled USB 3+, by moving to USB-C connector. Apart from that nothing really happened for well over a decade now (not that it was necessary).
