Wikimedia's Abstract Wikipedia project “at substantial risk of failure”
- akolbe 4y agoFor reference, "Abstract Wikipedia" is designed to increase access to Wikipedia information in hitherto poorly served languages (think South Asia, Africa, etc.). The idea is to generate language-independent, structured information – "a conceptual extension of Wikidata" – that is then rendered in an automated way as human-readable text in a multitude of languages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_Wikipedia

- akolbe 4y agoInitially at least the idea is to have basic articles, much like the content of Simple English Wikipedia. Here is an example: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Abstract_Wikipedia/Examples/Jupiter#Original_text https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Abstract_Wikipedia/Examples/...
