I learned touch typing this way in my childhood. I digitised 7-8 novels (Heidi, Huckleberry Finn, Sherlock Holmes, etc), and it was great fun :) PS: I didn't measure my speed back then, but it definitely worked. I go at 90+ wpm these days without a sweat!
