well, from a pre-internet 11year old with a heavy interest in doing library intensive searches for geeky stuff, depends on how motivated & how difficult an internet search is for related platform, python & scratch. IMHO: think HN can provide reasonable help / direction / pointers.

rephrasing orignal request with search engine terms "elementary school" "scratch" "python" "platform" came up with: https://www.codewizardshq.com/scratch-coding-for-kids/ https://www.codewizardshq.com/scratch-coding-for-kids/ which may have better ideas about inexpensive hardware for use with programming python/scratch for age group.
