China cracks advanced microchip technology in blow to Western sanctions
- UncleOxidant 4y agoThough a patent doesn't exactly mean they're able to produce these machines reliably yet, it's only a matter of time. It's not like they were never going to be able to figure out how to do this as some have suggested.
- simonblack 4y agoI predict that within 7 years, the West's semiconductor manufacturing industries will have gone the same way as the West's steel manufacturing industries, textile manufacturing industries, building supplies manufacturing industries, electronics manufacturing industries, home appliance industries, etc, etc. All out-competed and out-produced by the Chinese. And to think the West's semiconductor manufacturers were the geese that laid the golden eggs when the Chinese were perfectly happy to buy hundreds of billions of dollars worth of pre-built US semiconductors every year. Except that the US politicians banned those sales, and forced the Chinese to start making their own and consequently they will soon be out-competing their previous suppliers. Dumb US short-term thinking.
