A one sentence description "El Camino Real" would have saved me the trouble of having to start YouTube. "Fixing" ECR is a no-brainer if you are willing to disrupt one of the most dense roads going up the peninsula. If they aren't willing to touch the CalTrain corridor, and have seen what they did to take light rail from Mountain View, they certainly aren't going to touch ECR, especially north of Palo Alto. Something else they will never do is add more connectors between 280 and 101. The only paths across most of the peninsula are 880, 237/85 and 92 without traffic lights. Cross-town traffic in the Palo Alto/Redwood City area is horrible. I don't even want to think about the hellish commute that is Central Expressway, which has exactly the same problem as ECR, it narrows at the Palo Alto border and ends up just merging with ECR at Stanford.
