These guys are a pretty big portion of grindset/hustle culture, which overlaps heavily with startup culture. Beating a woman is certainly more visually shocking than stealing a rape victim's medical records but in a legal context I'd be hard-pressed to declare one "worse" than the other; and a vocal portion of HN defended the latter person and company during and for years after.
