- 2Gkashmiri 4y agoIndian government single-handedly killed leather industry in the country. In my city, i have heard tales how the leather industry was one of the leading exporters (from our city) and they were a big employment generator until the last few years but since 2014, that has flipped upside down. raw skin hides which would cost a farmer like $50 10 years ago now fetch them no more than a few bucks because there is no demand for it. vegan leather is BS appealing to the government policy of pushing away from meats (BS bovine slaughter ban among others)
