22 people in the study :eyeroll:
- munch117 4y agoYou can dismiss a study with 22 participants as unscientific, if they could have reasonably done a study with many more participants, or if someone else has already done so. In this case, it's an fMRI study. fMRI access is expensive, and analysing results is time consuming. It's reasonable to start small. If the smaller study comes up with anything interesting, then you can do a larger study later to confirm, and the experience you gained in the smaller study will help you design the larger one.
- JustLurking2022 4y agoYou probably should dismiss the results if they publish the study of 22 people rather than doing that larger follow-up.
- twojacobtwo 4y agoShouldn't all studied publish their results, regardless of followup studies? Also, assuming they don't already have funding for the larger study, it seems they would need to publish in order to garner attention from the study to secure the future funding.
