Yes, they were. The archaeological record indicates they cremated infants instead of burying them, but there is no indication the infants were murdered. There are many cultures where infants aren't named until age two or so. When infant mortality is high, cultures have to find ways to cope with it, and differing funeral customs are part of it.
- thom 4y agoIt's quite a large body of scholarship (much of it quite recent) to reject. But even so, the Romans also performed human sacrifices so it's hard to score points either way.
