I just realized that I haven’t bought a single app for my iPhone in years now. I don’t even open the app store unless I want to install something. I remembered when I first got my iPad, I would spend hours digging through the app store to discover and download apps. Now its just basic email, messaging, delivery and shopping apps

App development has been targeting the lowest common denominator of users for a while. Basically, “free” with annoying upsells or terrible ads. The web and app experience of today feel like I’m looking at a grocery store tabloid. The more discerning users of technology have likely narrowed their focus to the fewer and fewer remaining high quality sites and apps available (HN included).
