- siquick 4y agoI used to read The Guardian religiously for years. My mental health improved dramatically the day I stopped reading it. They are probably the “best” newspaper out there but it’s the media equivalent of high intensity doom scrolling.
- olivermarks 4y agoI skim the G most mornings along with a lot of the other big media company's offerings. I read Dobelli's book after reading his Graun article, it's very good! Gave up all news for a year after that, gradually got sucked back into the doom Wurlitzer..
- OJFord 4y agoI agree, but I'm impressed they published that to be honest.
- rhaway84773 4y agoIt’s interesting that most of the issues described there are specific to the online version of news. Breaking news updates, hyperlinks, etc. I’ve been seriously considering going back to what my dad used to do and I did when I was young, and having a physical newspaper delivered to read for 15-30 mins in the morning, and then cutting off all online news. This article (although unfortunately it’s largely unsupported by evidence, but I have indeed been feeling some of these effects personally) is a pointer in that direction.
