Bullet sales are rising and so are death totals in mass shootings
- chiefalchemist 4y agoUnfortunately, they fail to mention that mass shootings are a small fraction of gun / bullet related events. For starters, approx 50% of gun deaths are suicide (mostly by white males). And then there are cities like Philadelphia where there's the equivalent of a "mass shooting" ever week. But that never makes the national news. Focusing on (read: sensationalizing) mass shooting is great for the media, but the real issue - and associated numbers and damage - is broarded and deeper. We can't focus on fringe symptoms and expect to solve root problems.
- randombits0 4y agoSuicides are closer to 60%. No one ever states out loud that law abiding firearms owners are not the problem. Concealed Carry License holders are more law abiding than police. Pushing firearms ownership outside of this group is not only unconstitutional but dangerous to the security of a free state.
- mnky9800n 4y agoYour statement is tautologically true. Once you commit a crime with a firearm present you cease to be a law abiding firearm owner. Therefore they are not creating problems by definition. Of course people who don't commit crimes don't commit crimes.
- randombits0 4y agoYou missed the point, intentionally I believe. The vast majority of firearms owners are law-abiding. As such, the vast majority of firearms owners are not a threat to anyone. That’s the point.
- DoItToMe81 4y agoAdditionally, most 'mass shootings' are not the lunatic opening up on a crowd that people envision them as. They're gang violence.
- egberts1 4y agoIt is nigh time to bring back gun safety course into U.S. high schools again. It is not just about ROTC anymore but general public safety.
