while not the topic of the article, i would love to see laws / regulations that mandate compensation or accommodation in the event of cancelled flights for all airlines i've read that Southwest is doing some of this and the DOT may be able to force them to because of past promises they have made. however, not all airlines do this or are required to. perhaps with increased costs of failures, airlines will preemptively invest more in their infrastructure and, if not, maybe customers will suffer less
