It's not the warmest year of your life, it's the coldest year of the rest of your life.
- dsfyu404ed 4y agoHyperbole like "the coldest year of the rest of your life" is why the general public doesn't take climate change seriously. Year to year temps fluctuate a lot. The general trend is upward but nowhere near upward enough to overcome annual variance within a lifetime.
- ndsipa_pomu 4y agoWhat would it take for the general public to accept the urgency of climate catastrophe?
- riedel 4y agoPeople have to understand that with many statistical processes increasing the average means also increasing the variance.
- mikestew 4y ago...it's the coldest year of the rest of your life. Had you said that last year, most of the U. S. would never take you seriously again.
- Oxidation 4y agoFor anyone dying in the next year, that could still be true as the figures underlying that article (from the UK Met Office) suggest 2023 will be even hotter: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/press-office/news/weather-and-climate/2022/2023-global-temperature-forecast https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/press-office/news/weat...
