There were various factors that could've gone positively or negatively that now appears to be poorly coordinated for Elon -- GOP not sweeping legislature, China manufacturing issues, competitors continue to develop, pace of market recovery, FSD beta performance, etc. Brand strength and Twitter distraction is just adding on top. That and Elon has recently reassured his shareholders twice that he wouldn't sell and then proceeded to sell billions.
