This is what they ended up doing. However, they also mention that many of their users are on iPads. On iPad there is no numeric only keyboard so it's not the best experience. Not terrible, but it's annoying that iPhone has a numeric keyboard but on iPad it's just a full keyboard, even when you request numeric only. We ran into this same issue and ended up just creating our own keyboard to make input simpler.
