Show HN: Gamedrop – Videogame collection management, price alerts, and prices
- sergiotapia 4y agoMy brother and I built this over the last 28 days using Elixir and Phoenix Liveview. Since day 1 our goal has been to launch as quickly as possible and get something useful out to gamers like us. We want to make it very easy to manage your game collection, your price alerts, and find good videogame deals from brick and mortar stores. We're going to expand soon to other physical stores and ultimately add in digital storefronts as well. Think Pinterest for videogames. Thanks HN!
- ryan-duve 4y agoThis looks cool, very easy to use and look up some video games. I have a few random questions: 1. Where do you source the data about the video games? 2. Any consideration to either open sourcing or writing a technical post about the Elixir bits of your tech stack? 3. When it says "We don't have any prices yet, give us a few minutes!", what is going on under the hood that's taking a few minutes? Thanks for sharing!
- sergiotapia 4y agoThanks! We use IGDB for the data. I'd love to write some technical learnings about using Liveview to ship product. I'll do that this month. We're scheduling some price crawling when you see that message. It all depends on the load and scheduler at any given moment it's FIFO right now.
