ASUS pushes Core i9-13900K to 9 GHz, Setting a new World Record [video]
- LinuxBender 4y agoI am curious if their use of cryogenics to get 9GHz means that in a few years we can get close to that using just water/oil cooling. What practical outcomes can be derived from their experiments?

- MuffinFlavored 4y agoDoesn't a record like this depend highly on picking the highest quality "silicon"? Like this was enabled not only by the amazing feat of technology, but also focusing on selecting silicon that qualifies/classifies as top 0.1%? Not sure of the specifics but isn't it like... they underclock otherwise higher performing chips when they sell them because after they were assembled it was discovered they were like marginally defective at higher clock speeds so they sell them lower down the product line for less because they are stable enough to sell at lower clock speeds?
- RobLach 4y agoYes. There used to be a online store that filtered through the noise. https://siliconlottery.com/ https://siliconlottery.com/
