They may manipulate a lot of things and take all the wealth but in a democracy they are still somewhat subject to the will and power of the masses which should balance that out. Much of the discrepancy here in my opinion is a reaction changes in population, education levels, globalaization, technology, major global events,etc... these things tilt that balance one way or the other. I don't accept tricke down economics but the fact that this is being talked about all the time plus gen-z gaining more power and influence and enduring a lot of major traumatic shared experiences, I'd say a shake up (or down?) is likely in the near future affecting the wealth and power distributions.
