Pareto Distributions are Everywhere. Very few Stars have most of the Planets. Very few Planets have most of the Life. Very few Humans have most of the money.
Even Most of the Universe is "Empty Space", with astonishingly little of ANYTHING actually being "Solid Matter".
In a simulation where everyone starts equal, and starts trading, money distribution naturally becomes skewed towards few agents owning most of it.
Inequality is an inevitable result of Nature in many cases.

- giraffe_lady 4y agoDo you notice anything different about stars and money, about where they came from and how they got distributed where they are. Did you ever notice how almost the entire project of what we're doing as a species is resisting, even undoing, the consequences of the natural forces at play in our lives? "It's like this for other, inanimate, things and so we must accept it being like this for us" is not a principle we value in many other domains, why this one?
- nullish_signal 4y agoStars and Human Economies are, to put it simply, both results of complex Physical Phenomenon. Do you posit a non-physical Human Soul? Are Human Economies more Special than Systems of Gravity or Energy? We can certainly Battle Entropy, but does something 'human' about us make us Immune to Natural Law?
- giraffe_lady 4y agowere you born a moral coward or did you choose it? > Do you posit a non-physical Human Soul? I do, more or less. It may turn out to be physical but it also doesn't matter in the end. It is present regardless of source and so we must address its presence. People always and everywhere have appealed to natural law to explain and justify the horrors of the world so you're in popular company though not one I would choose. And always and everywhere others have ignored them and corrected those injustices, gradually, anyway.
