- kmbfjr 4y agoWe all stand in the shoulders of others. Forty years ago, this was my state of computing.
- dubya 4y agoThis reminded me of typing in a program to play a reggae version of "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" from Family Computing. It was not the coolest magazine, but it was what my school library subscribed to. A search reveals it appeared in the December 1985 issue!
- ruk_booze 4y agoA local store had this on display for Christmas. Nine yo me gazed upon the dazzling graphics and smooth animations. It was almost as watching a cartoon. This was the exact moment in time I knew that all I wanted was my own Commodore 64 so that I too could create such beautiful stuff. Fast-forward 40 years and I am still making demos for the greatest home computer ever built <3
- rudolfwinestock 4y agoFast forward 40 years is right. That demo was released forty years ago as of this year.
- soganess 4y agoNice work, sid and vic!
- layer8 4y agoAnd a couple decades later: https://youtu.be/Rcu12JKxoM4 https://youtu.be/Rcu12JKxoM4
- ruk_booze 4y agoWho would have ever thought in 1982 that something like this was possible on the C64?!
- Mountain_Skies 4y ago>Only $595! Which is $1,835 in current dollars. How long did it take for the Commodore 64 to drop to $99? It's amazing how rapidly computers advanced during that era and how quickly the prices declined, at least until the RAM crisis.
- ipython 4y agoI remember as a kid with these graphics, thinking that there would be no way a computer could ever replicate full motion video like on tv. Crazy to see how things worked out and how wrong I was.
