I do appreciate that this is a war and both sides are able to disseminate propaganda, but from over here in Europe, some of the stories we hear about the things that the Russians are doing does not leave me with any confidence that the war can end without the complete dissolution of one side or other.

The Russian people could impede or stop this if they were to seriously protest and rise up. Might even save face for the coming years. Save that, they all look complicit. Guilty.

    Do we know truly that 'most' Russians believe this? We understand that it is the only narrative that they are allowed to hear via media, but it seems that there were many who did not believe it in the beginning, and many who still don't though they are forbidden from voicing that. Interesting to know for sure how it goes over there..

      But importantly US politicians are historically responsive to the voters. Presidents can’t hold office past two terms. It’s not perfect, but it’s sure better.

        It didn't stop the Iraq war from happening after the disaster the US caused in Vietnam. How is that better? The US has been at war for the large majority of the past 200 years, that either proves that their system is doomed or that Americans love war and bullying the rest of the world. Pick one (or both).

As the Russians/ Iranians don't have a problem bombing civilians how about dissolving them? The Ukranians, according to the best info i can find, have avoided doing such (as far as possible), and have equally been restricted from attacking Russia itself. Purely for this reason alone - don't bomb children! - the Russians should be held severely accountable, and those guilty prosecuted accordingly, and with an appropriate level of legal - and military - violence.

  The US/NATO bombed literally countless civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Don’t act like the Russians and Iranians are especially evil. This is the trick war profiteers want you to fall for.

    I think your argument comes under 'whataboutism' to start with This war is caused by an invasion of Ukraine by Russia and nothing else. Neither the US nor NATO are fighting in this war, it is solely Russian troops invading Ukraine, Russian aircraft bombing Ukraine, and Russian missiles targeting Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting back within their own border and although they are being provided with support and weaponry by several NATO and non-NATO countries, I think they have not targeted anything other than Russian troops within their country, and Russian military who were attacking them. There are no troops from any other country fighting in Ukraine with the Ukrainians. This article is about Russia taking children from occupied territories and relocating them into Russia and making them into Russian citizens. It was evil when China did it in Tibet for the last 50 years, and it is evil when Russia is doing it Ukraine now.

The hatred that has been created in this war won't disappear any time soon. NATO integration of Ukraine and placement of nuclear weapons will be the only thing that deters the new USSR.
