Twitter has an extremely nasty dark pattern for accuiring your mobile number.
So much so if you pay and use a temporary number from services like OnOff. Twitter cleavely detect this and never sends you a verification code.
You need to use a number that is likely tied into a major phone network, most people will do this, as for the privacy conscious like me I had no way of circumventing the measures Twitter had in place at the time. It was very frustrating.
- Crosseye_Jack 4y agoWell as of late even big providers are not sending verification codes. My main has a number attached to it (for api reasons), but the other day I needed to log in on my freshly reinstalled laptop and choose phone as my 2FA device was in another room as I was being lazy, and I never got the code even though I must have validated it in the past. It was around the time that Elon tweeted out something about telcos sending out spam sms in twitters name.
