Would users from those countries even be able to use their local phones for verification? I would have assumed any kind of banned interaction with the USA’s baddies list countries (e.g. Iran, Syria, or North Korea) would apply to allowing users to sign up with phone numbers as well. Though I guess there’s always cross referencing known contacts of expats and dissents.
