Microsoft employee accidentally announces Notepad is getting tabs in Windows 11
- Aqueous 4y agoThey really shouldn’t. Notepad doesn’t need to be anything other than what it is.
- nullish_signal 4y agoBut will they add a "Please Buy Notepad" pop-up, like Sublime Text? I won't switch, otherwise.
- abudabi123 4y agoShould twenty-eight dollars a two-week period be the base price for a daily professional or leisure tool?
- giuliomagnifico 4y agoHe's lucky that his boss is not Musk and he's still working!
- MonkeyClub 4y agoIf they add line numbers too, then we’re talking!
- rightbyte 4y agoThe lure of notepad.exe and paint.exe was to me that they are simple and don't change. Bloating them is antithetical to why they are useful.
- machinawhite 4y agoI just use Notepad++ for notepad.exe but I'm still looking for a good paint.exe. Although I've used Pixelformer recently for some 32bit bitmaps and it's pretty good
- jowdones 4y agoWell I still use "Paint" for quickly editing images / pictures, in combination with IrfanView. But Notepad is literally unusable compared to Notepad++. If they (M$) copy Notepad++ it's fine with me, one less dependency to install. But I doubt it, too small of a tool in the M$ ecosystem, although I use plain text editing and hence Notepad++ maybe 20-50% of the time spent on Windows.
