Probably some people but in some store the scales are so picky that it malfunctions every 6 items and you need to pick up and put the item down again. And heavens forbid you want to move a bag in the checkout area. Some stores have more forgiving systems than others but the bad ones are really awful. I don't mind self-checkout in the stores where the machines aren't such a pain in the ass.
