Art (I know this is a massively broad term) I think has suffered from a lot of gate keeping due to having to practice motor movements. But, we can all see. Take the motor stuff out and anyone can become an artist.
Artists do not like this because now they aren't as special. And if you know any artists, you know they love being special.
- solardev 4y agoYeah, I think art is really neat, but the art world is pretty snobby and has a lot of old world... what's the opposite of "charm"...? repulsion? to it. I look forward to the day when humans in general stop thinking of ourselves as something special and beyond. If AI knocks us down a few notches and humbles us a bit, that seems wonderful!
- alar44 4y agoI completely agree.
- grugagag 4y agoThis is a pretty dumb take, it’s like saying programming is easy, I can use chatgpt and bypass the whole computer science gatekeeping crap. In reality art is about process and spending time just like software. Yes the art world is distorted/snobby and gatekeepimg but in the same sense the software world is like that too because of financial incentives. AI will disrupt everything momentarily after which we will go back and appreciate the craft behind various human endeavours
- solardev 4y agoYeah, the same can apply to software too! I would love to see the barrier to entry for all trades significantly drop, and snobbery decrease worldwide. Mostly I just hope that some better intelligence will put us in our place.
- rperez333 4y agoThat’s a very weird take, since a large part of the population spend hours daily consuming art: Music, TV and movies (created by all sort of artists, from actors to directors of photography, writers and set designers). We can add some video game genres there. Also, art is way more accessible than most professions, good motor skills or not.
- bsder 4y ago"Consume" is the appropriate word; I do think. All of these photos are simply "that thing we need to have on our corporate website." They are simply "product". Very few people "appreciate" or "engage" with art. Art is now background noise. It is something that simply needs to be present but not excellent. This has happened to photography, music, TV, etc.
