AI assistants help developers produce code that's more likely to be buggy
- Retric 4y agoA gentile reminder that AI assists where designed to create code that looks correct rather than being correct. The classic Average = (A + B) / 2 line could be perfectly fine or a bug based on things these AI’s don’t reason about. But once it’s in an editor your eyes want to gloss over such idioms without thought. It’s presumably possible for AI assists to be used safely, but is vastly harder than it seems.
