I wish there was a way to emergency lock overhead compartments. In the video several passengers can be seen going for luggage, when it was about life or death..

  the simple solution would be to tell the passengers that in case of an evacuation there's insurance against material losses, and anyone holding up others will be prosecuted.

    They are told that, but unawareness of the danger (No mass panic) makes them do the usual debark dance. Just dont offer them access to the luggage.

      no, they are just told to "leave it" at least in the usual safety dance that is always done by the crew has absolutely no mention of sticks and carrots - at least in the EU unless it has changed in the last few months, or if I somehow missed it
