Surprised I had to scroll so far down to see this. You hit the nail on the head. ChatGPT suddenly made the task of making a Google replacement 10x easier. The issue being the cost. Now imagine a world where we figure out ways to make these models 10x cheaper. And if those breakthroughs are open source then it won’t be just OpenAI there will be tons of startups all after Google. They need to build some sort of moat here to prevent this outcome.
