Is it common to set such a high bail but then only take such a small asset ($4m home) and a “promise” as collateral? It seems like the high bail being “paid” makes everyone scream “he has all the stolen money!”. Is this what the DOJ wanted?* * I don’t think he’s innocent but I do wonder if there was a motive behind the high bail amount.
