The thing is this is something we suffer through while we wait for companies to get enough, and large enough fines to actually read GDPR and respect it. Once that happens it will be almost as before, just with less battery usage, less network usage and less tracking. Will it happen? I think it will. I know see even Google - who I expect to have a small army of lawyers - have given up to certain extent and now lets me opt out directly without any extra steps.
