Why Many Cold Medicines Don’t Work to Relieve Congestion
- yarapavan 4y ago“The evidence is clear that oral phenylephrine does not work,” said Dr. Hatton. “If it doesn’t get into the blood in the first place, it can’t go to the nose and cause nasal constriction and therefore relieve your congestion.”
- JumpinJack_Cash 4y agoMaybe anecdotal but I've always found local application via spray to work much better. I think oral Sudafed (pseudoephedrine hydrochloride) is still valid though?
- jfengel 4y agoYes, Sudafed works. It is worth going through the hassle of signing for it. (Though I wonder... has fentanyl displaced enough methamphetamine to make that process obsolete? I mean, of course it was arguably never worth it, but even if we accept that it might have been, maybe now we could put Sudafed back on the shelves.)
