- atoav 4y agoConnecting the "I want to believe" from alien abduction believers to modern conspiracy theories is an interesting angle. As the article points out they believe in what feels good to them, regardless of factual truth. If you discuss with such people and get them to the point where they have to conceede that what they say is factually not true, they will very often resort to a defense of "but it is true in principle". If you ask them what it means and why they know that it always boils down to believe. And they want to believe.
