I thought that Red 40 was banned in Canada as we tend to see things coloured using alternate dyes, but I'm unable to confirm this and I'm starting to wonder if it isn't actually banned. EDIT: I did learn today that the "FD&C" label on colours are those colours that have transitioned from being a straight "chemical" mixture to a validated and analyzed pure sample of a potential batch of colour.
