I had naively assumed that this would be a social platform where the government could not flex its financial muscles to suppress dissent. Going forward, it appears that decentralization is the only viable choice for a democratic internet, and Twitter is in a tough spot, with little hope of shifting away from advertisement to a payment-based model without Elon's guidance.
