Fastmail: My Wishes for 2023
Hi,
I'm a happy Fastmail user, but there are also a few downsides, which I hope they will change in 2023.
I cannot understand that in 2022 they don't have:
- IPv6
- DNSSEC / DANE
- DMARC
Hope some or all of the feature will come in 2023.
And one of my biggest downsides is, that they 'only' have their servers within US.
A few years ago they had servers within EU (amsterdam I think) but they ditched it and went US only. Maybe they think about hosting mails within EU (check 1Password - they also do have several datapoints: US/CAN/EU).
What about your pro/cons and wishes?
- Tomte 4y agoI'd like to see calendars that can be non-publically shared with (and maybe even written to by) non-Fastmail-Users.
- ancarda 4y agoI was a happy FastMail customer for years, but lack of IPv6+DNSSEC was also disappointing for me. I eventually heard about Migadu ( https://www.migadu.com/ https://www.migadu.com/ ) which has all that, and AFAIK, EU servers as well. The only downside for me is the web UI isn't nearly as polished as FastMail.
- holigot 4y agoThx for your feedback. Will check their website. What about real IMAP Push for iOS devices? Does it work, or only every X minutes push like others? (mailbox.org, Fastmail, iCloud Mail do have real IMAP push for iOS/macOS).
- ancarda 4y agoSorry, I don't have an iOS device, so I'm not sure. The only mention I could find on the website was: https://www.migadu.com/guides/gmail_android/ https://www.migadu.com/guides/gmail_android/ > While Gmail is an IMAP client app, it will not check for new mails continuously. Not only it does not support IMAP Push extensions which are standard nowadays, but the [most] frequent polling interval is 15 minutes Which I guess implies they offer IMAP push, since they're expressing disapproval that the Gmail app doesn't support IMAP push
- holigot 4y agoThx. Nothing for me as I need direct push. But thx for the suggestion.
