In a town of 1000 people, if 100 are homeless, and 25 are LGBTQ, that certainly does spell out that the town has a discrimination problem. However, that doesn't mean that homelessness is guaranteed if you're openly LGBTQ, nor does it mean that everyone who is homeless is LGBTQ. It just means that it's a big risk factor. So while discrimination of protected classes is still likely the biggest factor in homelessness in the US, it's not the only thing, and thus it's demonstrably false that "Poverty is not about money. It's about all the myriad ways we say 'Fuck you' to 'the wrong kind of people.'". If you solved discrimination overnight, we'd still have homelessness.
