Sure, why wouldn't it be? The question is what are you actually learning and how much will you retain. Learning syntax only gets you so far. To me, the hardest part is figuring out how to express the actions I want to take in the form of objects. API design adds a lot of clarity. 10 days on CSS... Why?! What on Earth could they be teaching that takes so long and would you actually need that level of CSS knowledge at an entry level position. I can think of much better ways to spend that time.
Try to recreate standard library functions using just the most primitive parts of the language. That's what I do when assessing my ability to use a language. For example, write your own implementation of https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/substr https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Refe... with just loops and variables.
