Define doomed by gender ratio?
I'm queer, and I think it's more about straight men and women dating differently... or just something inate in guys because I consistently have zero issues finding a short term partner on the male side, but struggle to have a conversation I don't want to exit with women due to the insane level of entitlement they give off.
It could be worse to have like 1k "hey"s, but if you're a guy who only wants connected with women, at least in my experience you seem to get matched with only one person at a time, and they're always some rude little shit from the CIA, KGB, or an obscure government lab and aggrieved that their profile's open predilection for drugs and dance are at odds with a security clearance. (Uhn tiss uhn tiss is a privilege ladies. If you're literally a fed, you're unwelcome.)
For me, it's been the above... or divorced people with kids who don't know what "childfree" means and act aggrieved that my profile was 100% open and accurate, but I guess that's how you end up in an unhappy marriage saddled with kids when you absolutely knew what contraception during the time you were obtaining multiple STEM degrees.
(Sorry to rant, but it's hard, in a different way for guys, even if you try to be nice -- apparently any time we rant we come off like some kind of future incel shooter, but the last person who told me that was how I come off was a communist who was angry her third tier JD wasn't getting her into prestigious nonprofits just because she, like half of the folks in that space, was queer and frankly a bit of a fragile narcissist if she didn't pair lack of a T14 with some publications like the other folks I know who overcame school rank.)
Anyways, maybe try a different network if too many likes are the issue, because guys are on their mostly for short term so... the odds are good but the goods are odd, as they say.
(Or just go to a bar, apps are overrated, but then again so is alcohol... I quit drinking, which is how I got to the point I could think about who I want to date rather than pine for a match -- looks matter lol.)
Anyways... happy hunting. Looking forward to the comments section on this one!
:-)
Edit: and as I noted on the previous comment, I'm laid up with a migraine, and frankly I wish this place would allow post deletion like Reddit, but I'll be mindful I'm a refugee in every sense of the word here.

- greggarious 4y agoI was ill, and I'm upset every time I've tried online dating I run into someone with a security clearance who blows up when I won't ignore the things on their profile or convo that could get it revoked. I also am ill, and apparently should log off when I have a migraine. I wish HN supported post or account deletion in accordance with the GDPR.
