- modeless 4y agoYes. And cheaper. I just ordered a Raptor Lake + 4090 configuration from a major PC builder for $3500, which is cheaper than the M1 Ultra Mac Studio.
- jjtheblunt 4y agoWhat will you run on it that can take advantage of a just released pair of processors? Sounds awesome; thanks for clarifying above, too.
- modeless 4y agoI plan to do some ML, some VR games, and some compilation. Literally everything will be at least twice as fast as my current system, and some things will be 10x or more. I haven't upgraded in a while.
- jjtheblunt 4y agowhat operating system will support all that?
- modeless 4y agoEither Windows or Linux can do it alone (now that Proton works well), but I use both.
- wolftickets 4y agoNot the exact same but I just built a machine for machine learning(tabular work mostly) using a Ryzen 9 5950X(16 core) and a 3060 GPU and the performance is stellar with Linux.
- pxmpxm 4y agoWhich builder out of curiosity?
- modeless 4y agoAvadirect. I haven't used them before, so I'm rolling the dice. I've had iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC machines at work and wasn't impressed, so I figured I'd try a different one. Unfortunately 4090s are sold out so the order is on hold.
- pxmpxm 4y agoAh interesting - do you save any money using one of those companies, rather than piecing it together yourself?
