tbf, (TFA's author notwithstanding), although I agree the likelihood of offense for the first column is questionable in many cases, in a quick skim I didn't see any where replacement (not necessarily by the second column!) would have been at all objectionable, either. tl;dr "Big Brother" seems far downslope for this concrete case. (And neither has its slipperiness been shown.)
