I don't think this is a huge surprise given the insane cost of housing. Is there any data to show an increase in apartment and housing density actually drives down the median/average rental price?
In addition, I'd also argue that Asian, Indian, and Hispanic culture often requires the children to care for their parents which naturally means, either the children living at home or the parents living with their children. And perhaps the more Western culture of "moving out from the house" is dying, as those who come from a Western family are starting to see the value of a family living under the same household. The tradeoff is obviously freedom and independence, but it seems like a good tradeoff so you're not living check to check to pay for a room, and allows for increase in savings.
