Developer interviews are one giant cargo cult in the industry. I usually spend about 15 minutes on coding during interview, and even that sometimes feels like too much.
- mcv 4y agoI never get coding challenges anymore, and I doubt I'd be any good at them. But my CV says I'm a senior and I can talk like one for at least the duration of the interview, so it's never an issue. Then I start the job and after a few weeks I feel like a junior who knows nothing, but I keep working. And then I deliver some complex stuff and then I realise everybody else on the team is having the same struggles I have.
