We tend to be born with more-or-less the same potential.
But only some of us had two experienced elders of the species, who loved us above all else, dedicated to shepherding and building the foundations of our lives - intelligently setting every standard and expectation - during our formative childhood and young-adult years.
The effect is immense.

- crtified 4y agoYes, all kinds of differences abound, both physical and mental. But, like all animal species, we mostly fall within our own fairly tight range of behaviours and traits - that defines our species. It's nice to have a high IQ - I've been tested in the high 140's, for what it matters - but it's only one factor in life. Any average 12 year old guided in life by two average 40 year olds is going to have a far easier time of it than a genius-but-unguided 12 year old.
