Many people also take issue using "tribe" to describe groups of indigenous people, as it tends to evoke images of primitive unsophisticated people when this is far from always the case (it is in some cases, though). I don't take issue if people use the word "tribe" to describe people from (usually) Africa or the Americas, but I don't use it myself for this reason. I'd also like to point out it's not exclusively used for indigenous peoples; e.g. "Germanic tribe", "Saxon tribe", "Celtic tribe", etc.
