Meraki disconnects all network devices located in Russia and Belarus from cloud
- greatgib 4y agoAgain a stark remainder that "cloud" connected devices are "internet of shit" objects that can't be trusted. We don't care so much about the Russians, as their government is of their responsibility, but imagine if suddenly all our somehow Chinese products, phone, routers and switches become brick because we get into a conflict with the Chinese gov.
- mawadev 4y agoA lot of companies don't want to go near meraki because of situations like this. They don't know how much it phones home and how reliable it is. It's great how much you can automate with it, but this proves everyone right who went on prem for sensitive things. You never know when you will be on the receiving end.
- ratg13 4y agoNot only devices, but just a stark reminder that government sanctions exist and are a tool used to shape foreign policy. EU can ban Facebook, US can ban Chinese semiconductors, etc. All the more reason to support local businesses and not global monoliths.
- karmakaze 4y agoSo Meraki is the 'good' Huawei on our side? Nah, it's hardware you paid for but don't own.
