There are also public sector unions which appear to only serve a special interest group at the expense of everyone else. Teacher unions are an example--they appear to protect bad teachers, stifle innovation, and it isn't even clear that they are great at getting pay for teachers.
- BurningFrog 4y ago> unions which appear to only serve a special interest group at the expense of everyone else I mean, the intended purpose of unions is to serve their members, at the expense of non members.
- ubercore 4y agoNot necessarily. As I understand it, in the Nordics, employment conditions and benefits are protected by unions, regardless of an individual's membership.
- BurningFrog 4y agoI see how you read it that way, but I meant non members in a wider sense, as in the employer, and the general public.
- britch 4y agoMind elaborating on what you mean by innovation? Is it new/unique curriculum? Something else?
